Comments, mentions, and reactions

Team discussion on every task, from writing comments and mentioning members to threaded replies, emoji reactions, and viewing attachments inside comments.

Every task in Taskie has its own discussion space, so your team can talk about the work right next to it: ask questions, make decisions, and record the outcome. That way decisions and feedback don't get lost across email and scattered messaging apps, and anyone who opens the task later can see the whole conversation.

This page shows how to comment on a task, bring members and AI agents into the conversation with mentions, keep replies organized in threads, react with emoji, and view attachments right inside a comment.

Discuss a task

The comment box sits in each task's discussion section and is a full editor: you can format text, create lists, and add links.

Comment box
Discuss the work right below each task
  1. Open the task and type your comment in the Write a comment... box.
  2. If needed, use the toolbar below the box to attach a file, add emoji to the text, or record audio or a screen clip.
  3. Click Send to post. Depending on your settings, Enter or Ctrl/Cmd+Enter also sends the comment.

When you post your first comment, you automatically become a follower of the task so you hear about later replies and updates. New comments also show up live for other project members.

Mention members and agents

To bring a specific person into the conversation, type @ in your comment and pick the member from the list. The mentioned person gets a notification so they can respond faster.

  • Only members with access to the project are notified by a mention, so sensitive information isn't exposed to people outside the project.
  • People you mention and the task's other followers are notified when a comment is posted.
  • You can also mention an AI agent so it replies right there in the conversation.

Organized, threaded replies

To keep the conversation from getting cluttered, every comment has a Reply button. When you reply to a comment, your reply is grouped right below it as a separate thread, and the number of replies is shown next to it.

  • Replies are one level deep, meaning they collect under each top-level comment so the topic stays easy to follow.
  • When you open the reply form, "Replying to …" shows the name of the comment's author so you know who you're replying to.
  • You can Edit or Delete your own comments and replies. A deleted comment is shown with a clear label.

Reactions and emoji

Sometimes, instead of writing a full reply, you just want to show approval or a feeling. Use reactions for this; they're different from adding emoji to the comment text.

Reacting to a comment
React to comments with emoji
  • Each comment has a quick approval reaction button (👍) and an emoji picker for other reactions.
  • Each reaction appears as a badge with the emoji and a count, and it's highlighted if you reacted yourself.
  • Clicking the same reaction again removes it. Each user has one reaction per emoji.
  • Reactions are chosen from a fixed set of emoji, and a workspace admin can turn reactions off entirely.

Attachment previews in comments

Any file you attach to a comment is shown right inside that comment, in a way that suits its type, so you don't have to download anything to see it.

Attachments and audio in a comment
Attach files, audio, and screen clips to comments
  • Images show as previews and open in a full-screen viewer when clicked.
  • Video and audio play right inside the comment.
  • Other files appear in a card with the name, extension, and size, plus a download button.

To attach something, click Attach file in the toolbar, or use Record audio and Record a screen clip to create a file right from the comment.

Assign comments and set reminders

Sometimes a comment is really a small task. With Assign comment, you can hand a comment to a member so it becomes a trackable item. Once it's done, mark it Resolved. You can also set a reminder on a comment to come back to it at the right time.

Tip: If you don't see reactions in your workspace, an admin has probably turned them off. In that case, use a comment or a reply to share your feedback.
