Sign in and sign up from Telegram
Sign in to Taskie from inside the Telegram bot without entering a password, or create a new account with the number Telegram has already verified. The /start menu is now shorter and paginated too.
Three new ways to reach Taskie from inside Telegram: open the app without entering a password, create an account with the number your messenger has already verified, and use a shorter, easier-to-read command menu.
Open Taskie inside your messenger (mini app)
In your chat with the bot, tap the button to open Taskie. The app opens inside Telegram itself, and if your account is already linked to the bot, you're signed in directly — no email, no password.
- If you haven't linked an account yet, you go through the regular sign-in once, and from then on sign-in is automatic.
- Security rules still apply: if your account uses two-factor authentication or organizational sign-in, those same steps run, and a blocked account won't open this way either.
Sign up with your phone number
If you don't have a Taskie account yet, the bot gives you two options: I already have an account or Sign up. To sign up, just share your phone number with the bot.
- A new number — your account is created right away, with no SMS.
- A number that already has an account — for security, an SMS code is sent to you first, and after you confirm it, the account is linked to your messenger.
Why the difference? So that if someone's messenger account ever falls into someone else's hands, that person can't take over your Taskie account with it alone.
Why this is useful
- New members get started faster — a colleague who just joined the team can sign in from the same chat they were invited in, without creating a password or confirming an email.
- It's easier on your phone — no more typing an email and password on a phone keyboard.
- Quick tasks get done faster — to view a task or leave a comment, you don't need to open a browser and wait for it to load.
The new /start menu
Previously, sending /start showed a long list of every command in one message that nobody really read. Now you see a short welcome message with a card of the six most-used commands, and you can page through the rest of the commands in the same message with the next/previous buttons.
Frequently asked questions
- Is there a mini app in Mattermost, Slack and Discord too? No. This path is only for Telegram.
- Is my phone number visible in Taskie? The number is only used to create and verify your account and, like any other account information, it's covered by your privacy settings.
- Can I disconnect? Yes — from your account settings in Taskie, or with the disconnect command in the bot itself.
- If I use two-factor authentication, do I still sign in without a password? You're still asked for the second step. This path doesn't weaken your account security.
- I have several Taskie accounts — which one opens? The account you linked to this chat. To change it, disconnect the current link first and then link the other account.
- Are all features available in the mini app? Yes. The same web app opens inside your messenger, just in the smaller space of your phone.
