The Taskie bot in Slack and Discord
In addition to Telegram and Mattermost, you can now connect Taskie to Slack and Discord: the same commands, notifications and buttons, right inside your team's chat.
If your team's daily conversation happens in Slack or Discord, you no longer need to go to Taskie for every small thing. The Taskie bot works right there: create tasks, see today's work, start timers and get notifications.
Setup (for admins)
- In Slack or Discord, add the Taskie app to your workspace or server.
- In the Taskie admin panel, in the messenger bots section, enter the connection details.
- Save and test the connection.
In Slack, each workspace has its own separate connection. That means you can connect several Slack workspaces to one Taskie installation without them being linked to each other.
Link your personal account (for members)
- In Slack or Discord, run the Taskie bot's connect command.
- Click the personal link the bot creates to sign in to your Taskie account in the browser.
- Once you confirm, your account is linked, and from then on every command runs under your own name.
In Slack
- Slash commands — the same list of Taskie commands you already know.
- Buttons — under each message: done, view, log time and so on.
- Step-by-step modal — if you run a command without details, a modal opens and asks for them step by step, so you don't have to memorize the command format.
- App Home tab — open the bot's Home tab to see a summary of your work for today.
In Discord
- Slash commands — type
/to see the command list with help for each option. - Buttons and forms — for quick actions and multi-part input.
- Ask the assistant — use the ask command to send free text to the AI assistant and get the answer right there.
An important difference in Discord: the Taskie bot in Discord only sees slash commands, buttons and forms, and doesn't read regular channel messages. So in Discord you can't create a task with a plain message, send files or voice messages, or sign up by sharing your contact. This limit is intentional and respects the privacy of your server's conversations.
Also, button responses in Discord are only shown to you, so one person's click doesn't change a message that everyone else in the channel is reading.
Post project events to a Discord channel
Separately from the bot, you can create a feed so project events — a new task, a status change, a new comment — are posted to a Discord channel automatically. This is done from the App Center with a webhook and doesn't require installing the bot. The details are in Discord integration.
