What's new in 2.9.1

Version 2.9.1 makes chatting with the assistant smoother: replies appear gently, voice recording takes a single tap and the conversation list is simpler.

Version 2.9.1 is a maintenance release focused on everyday work with the assistant: voice recording is simpler, speech-to-text in chat works again, the assistant's reply fades in gently instead of appearing all at once, the chat no longer jumps when a reply arrives, and the conversation list fits on one line per item.

Note: Some features depend on your workspace plan or your permission level. If you don't see an option, ask your workspace admin to check the related permission and plan.

Record voice with one tap

Until now you had to hold the microphone button, and a short tap was ignored. Now one tap starts recording and the next tap stops it. This applies to task comments, document comments and task attachments.

Speech-to-text in AI chat

A voice message sent in chat used to fail with the error "Could not convert the audio to text.", while the same clip was transcribed correctly in comments. That difference has been fixed, and both paths now work the same way.

Replies appear smoothly

  • Gradual reveal: the reply appears word by word instead of all at once.
  • No jumping: the text layout is settled before the reveal starts, so the chat doesn't shift while the reply appears.
  • New replies only: earlier conversations are shown instantly, without animation.

No more jumping or rebuilding the chat

When a reply arrived, the message list used to be rebuilt from scratch and the chat jumped for a moment. Now the messages on screen are updated instead of rebuilt.

The assistant's identity

  • Consistent introduction: the assistant always introduces itself as the Taskie assistant and doesn't explain its internal infrastructure.
  • Resists embedded instructions: text in a document, task, comment or tool result that poses as an instruction isn't carried out, and the assistant tells you so in one sentence.

Context from the current page

The page you're on is still sent to the assistant along with your question, so you don't have to repeat the name of the open project or task; but it's no longer counted and shown as an attachment on your message.

How the chat looks

  • Processing steps: the collapsed summary of steps is no longer shown after the reply is ready; steps only appear while the assistant is working.
  • Reply buttons: copy and feedback are always visible, so you don't need to hover over the reply to see them.
  • Your message bubble: the frame around the messages you send is easier to read and tidier.
  • Divider line: the line between messages has been removed.

Conversation list

  • One line: the title and time sit on one line, and the agent or project name, when there is one, follows the title.
  • Delete button: it appears on hover and pushes the time aside; otherwise it takes up no space.

Removed in this release

The Convert to task option has been removed from the reply menu. It didn't work correctly and won't be available until it's fixed. To create a task from a conversation, you can simply ask the assistant to create it.

A short list of the changes is also on the version 2.9.1 changelog page.
