What's new in 2.9.0

Version 2.9.0 takes the AI assistant from answering questions to getting work done, and rebuilds the Inbox, My tasks and notifications.

Version 2.9.0 is above all about the AI assistant: it now carries out bulk actions, schedules projects, knows which page you're on and gives an honest report of what it did. Alongside that, the Inbox and My tasks have been rebuilt, notifications have their own page, you can create workspace templates, and workspace ownership can be transferred.

Note: Some features depend on your workspace plan or your permission level. If you don't see an option, ask your workspace admin to check the related permission and plan.

The assistant gets work done, not just answers

  • Bulk actions: with one request, close a batch of tasks, move them to another project, set reminders on them or add a comment. The result is reported as succeeded and failed.
  • Create and edit: create a project, split a task into several tasks and create a custom field right from the chat.
  • Reminders: you can set and remove reminders on one or more tasks in the chat.

Schedule a project with the assistant

  • Structure before scheduling: the assistant builds time estimates, dependencies between tasks and smaller work items so the plan is based on real data.
  • Proposal before applying: the proposed plan is shown with its dates and is only applied after you approve it.
  • Work that doesn't fit: tasks that don't fit before the deadline are listed explicitly.

The assistant knows which page you're on

If you open the chat while a project, task or document is in front of you, the assistant uses it as the starting point and doesn't ask for its name again.

Recurring briefs

For reports you want regularly, such as "what should I work on today" or "what's fallen behind", create a recurring brief so it's prepared automatically at the scheduled time. A brief is only created with your explicit approval.

Due date postponement count

Each task keeps track of how many times its due date has been pushed back. With this number, you can spot tasks that keep slipping.

More accurate and more honest answers

  • Help: "how do I" answers come from the help center, and if there's no article on the topic, the assistant says so plainly instead of suggesting an unrelated article.
  • Reply language: the reply language matches the language of your latest message.
  • Work report: only work that was actually done is reported as done; otherwise the reason it failed is given.
  • When something isn't possible: if a task can't be done from the chat, the assistant shows you where to do it in Taskie.

Documents from templates and submitting forms in chat

For structured documents such as meeting minutes or a postmortem, the assistant uses your existing templates. For internal requests, it finds the right form, asks only for the answers it needs and shows you a summary to confirm before submitting.

The Inbox has been rebuilt

The tasks page is now built on the same tools as the All tasks page: saved views, filters, grouping and column selection are all available.

My tasks settings now stick

The filters, grouping and columns you choose in My tasks are remembered separately for each workspace and are still in place the next time you sign in.

Notifications have their own page

In addition to the notifications drawer, there's now a full page for browsing and managing all your notifications.

Create workspace templates

Turn your project structure into a template and reuse it every time similar work starts.

Transfer workspace ownership

Workspace ownership can be transferred to another member through a step-by-step flow confirmed with a one-time code.

Android: notifications and subscriptions

  • Notifications: Taskie notifications now reach the Android app.
  • Subscriptions: you can buy a subscription from inside the app, without leaving it.

Fixes in this release

  • Images in task descriptions: a pasted image is saved as a file instead of being embedded in the text, and long descriptions are no longer rejected.
  • Tables in task descriptions: you can now add a table to a task description.
  • Downloading files with non-Latin names: files whose names use non-Latin characters download correctly.
  • Long links in comments: long links wrap onto several lines instead of stretching the width of the conversation.
  • Task keys: task numbering has been fixed, and after a project is deleted its key prefix becomes available again.
  • Subtasks: you can sort and reorder subtasks in the task details window.
  • Sidebar: the current page's row stays highlighted when you change filters, and dragging projects and folders no longer get mixed up.
  • Support tickets: closing a ticket is now correctly announced as "Closed" instead of "New reply".

A short list of the changes is also on the version 2.9.0 changelog page.
