What's new in 2.11.0
Version 2.11.0 brings time-of-day scheduling to tasks, connects meetings and Google Calendar to Taskie, and makes permissions precise down to each project.
Version 2.11.0 has three themes: more precise scheduling, connecting meetings and calendars to Taskie, and finer control over permissions. Alongside these, the speed and look of several popular areas have been revisited.
Note: Some features depend on your workspace plan or your permission level. If you don't see an option, ask your workspace admin to check the related permission and plan.
Schedule tasks to a time of day
Until now, each task belonged to a whole day and sat in the All day row of the calendar. Now, when you pick a date, you can also set a start and end time.
- A timed task appears on the calendar's hourly grid, and you can drag it or resize it.
- Overdue is now time-aware too: an all-day task due today isn't overdue until tomorrow, but a task due today at 9:00 is overdue from 9:01.
- The calendar export (ICS) carries these times too; if you were already subscribed to the calendar, existing entries are corrected in place and nothing is duplicated.
Existing tasks stay all-day; a time only applies when you set one yourself.
Expand subtasks from any row
Any task that has subtasks gets an arrow next to its title. Click the arrow and its subtasks open right below that row and behave like full tasks: inline editing, the row menu and expanding one more level.
This is available in the project list and table, My tasks, the Inbox, All tasks, the labels page and task widgets on the dashboard.
Google Calendar with your own account
The Google Calendar connection has been rewritten. You now connect by signing in to your own Google account once, and your list of calendars is read right away; the old method that required entering an ID and key by hand has been removed.
Signing in to Taskie with Google is unchanged and still doesn't ask for any access to your calendar. The calendar connection only happens when you start it yourself from the Apps section.
Meetings: video meeting rooms and automatic minutes
A new video meeting service has been added, bringing the total to four. You create the room from inside Taskie, and after the meeting ends, its duration, the attendee list, the recording, the transcript and its notes are kept in that same room.
Long recordings are supported too. The audio of a 30 to 90 minute meeting is processed into a meeting minutes document with the speakers identified, and the action items that were decided are listed as suggested tasks for you to approve.
Note: Automatic minutes are off by default so the workspace's AI credits aren't spent unnecessarily. If you want them, turn them on in the meeting settings.
Finer, per-project permissions
Custom roles used to be able to either fully open or fully close an area. Now each area has separate view, create, edit and delete permissions, and for tasks and comments, editing and deleting "my own" items is separate from "other people's" items.
You can also change a role's or a person's permissions in one specific project only, without changing their role in the rest of the workspace. The workspace owner and admins are exempt from these restrictions.
Workspace announcements
Workspace admins can publish an announcement banner: for all members or only for specific roles and projects, over a time range of their choice. Dismissing the banner is saved per member and it stays dismissed on their other devices too, unless the announcement was set as non-dismissible.
Smaller improvements
- Task activity is written in plain language, and on desktop you can see the details of each change by hovering over it.
- The value of numeric, currency and yes/no goals can be updated directly from the goal row.
- The whiteboard and mind map work with touch: pan with one finger, zoom with two, open the menu with a long press and draw with a stylus.
- The assistant recognizes keys like "HAMBOT-005" and the numbers that follow them, and no longer asks which project you mean.
- Connected assistants (MCP) can create folders, nest documents, attach files and read the full text of long documents.
- The sign-in page fits on one screen, the home page shows real product screenshots, and the active sidebar item has a clearer highlight.
Speed
The task list, dashboard, project list and sidebar are lighter, and moving between pages happens without rebuilding the layout. The effect is most noticeable in large workspaces with many members and projects.
Fixes
- A task moved to another project gets a new key from that project.
- The comment editor in documents only opens while you're editing.
- The assistant drawer on help pages and public pages now pushes the content aside instead of covering it.
- Creating an assistant from a template has been fixed.
- The subscription purchase page in the app-store edition of the Android app no longer freezes after you pick a plan.
If you don't see the changes
Part of this release depends on your workspace plan and your permission level. If you don't see an option, refresh the page once, and if it persists, contact your workspace admin or support.
A short list of the changes is also on the version 2.11.0 changelog page.
